Speaking at the inauguration of the new building, Mr Seneadza called on the police administration to increase the number of policemen in the district to enhance police visibility in the district.
He observed that the current number of six police officers was woefully inadequate for effective policing in the area.
He described the situation as so pathetic that ‘‘Afadjato with a population of over 100,000 can only boast six police officers”.
Mr Seneadza indicated that the assembly was planning to provide office and residential accommodation for additional police officers.
Assist the police
The Hohoe Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Martin Ayiih, reiterated that the few officers in the area were currently manning about 30 communities in the district.
ACP Ayiih lamented that the challenge was further exacerbated by the unavailability of vehicles to enable the personnel to conduct effective patrol and other security operations in the area.
He, therefore, appealed to benevolent individuals and organisations to support in equipping the police in order that they discharged their duties effectively.
The commander promised the Afadjato South District Assembly that the building would be put to good use and urged the residents of the area to volunteer information and assist the police in diverse ways in order to ensure maximum security in the district.
